Up and Downs

It’s been three semesters now and I am tired of answering questions like “How’s ur IIT goin on?”, “How’s life there?” etc. So the beast have decided to answer them all here.

It all started with 31st May 2007 when my computer screen flashed with a message that said, “Congratulations! Your All India Rank is 2589”. Though a little surprised initially I refreshed the page a couple of times hoping that the digit 2 has been wrongly placed. But it wasn’t so. A deafening silence engulfed my house. None in my family expected this rank for me. It seemed as if the cookie crumbled. But the mourning was finally over when the phone started ringing and people started wishing me and my family. Finally on 29th June 2007, it was decided that Kaku is heading for Roorkee, IIT Roorkee. The only person who had seem to be benefitted with this news was my younger sister, she was excited as she was about to have complete possession of my study room (she wasn’t allowed to enter into it). Packing started, advice started pouring in as the groom was been prepared for his bidaai. And finally it was the D-Day, 26th July 2007; I was emancipated from my family and was forced to survive into a huge room (compared to the room provided to the other IIT students) that too with a guy (I deserved something better. Ironically there wasn’t any girl in my branch too).

First sem started, I made new friends. Some were stingy and miser like AA, PV and others were hardcore Punjaabi’s like Jynja, A (not so) M etc and few were Haddus like Alpo (he was always after my ass because I wasn’t acquainted to correctly pronounce his name) and MVRM aka The Forever Kid aka Murty. Me, a beginner when it comes to cycling, was involved in various cycle accidents, sometimes injuring myself (that rarely happened) and at other times injuring my friends. Everything was going fine when I lost my cycle, two days later I lost my wallet and the very next day, I lost PV’s cycle (this is what he use to say). Everyday had a fixed schedule, classes :: 8-2, sleep :: 3-5, football :: 6-9, bakar:: till 2 atleast and then finally the days over. Happily the time passed and Thomso came where I met her (for more details wait for the next post). It was November and end semesters were nearing, everything was wrapped up till now. Came the exams, came the NCC camp, came a decent CGPA and hence, came envious batch mates like Lalli, Singh (the fattest ass on the earth) etc. Finally leaving everything behind me, I returned back to my home.

Started the second sem, few with people reacting pretty strangely (as they feared I may screw their BC plans and I actually did so). This was perhaps the worst semesters one could ever have. The quantity of my envious batch mates increased, I wasn’t able to play football due to “back” problems, had fight with the ex-DR 1 of my ex-department. I was so badly frustrated that in between of the semester, I went back to my home. BC was going on somewhere in my head and thanks to it, I lost the vote of trust of the few LS (they were really LS, good for nothing) batch mates who were my only support in batch C3. Engulfed by frustration I reverted back to old winning ways, CHEAT2WIN. But ironically, since it involved a girl (rather a bitch who could have saved me by eating a Center Fresh, Zubaan pe lagaam laga de but she uttered the truth) it failed (for the first time, sachchi) and I was boycotted by my LS batch C mates. Finally like everything, this semester also ended (not peacefully though). Back home, my interaction with her (the next post will be out soon) helped me sway away from my not-so-good instant past. I got myself involved in various activities and was very badly hoping for a BC.

Came 31st July, 2008 and I was in the second year still unaware of the final verdict of the Dean UGS regarding my branch and yes, I got a BC although it was just a fluke (read further). New branch was no problem for me because I already had TCS in it and making new friends is no big deal for me. Although I was given the title of RUDE by the only girl in our deptt, rest was all fine. Days passed away happily, bakar sessions became more frequent and all of a sudden came the mid-sems and for a change, I was screwed. More drama happened the next day when I was notified that Pinky (referred by this name since his DPS days) will be a Prondi (a slang for the Production and Industrial ppl) and the axe could fall on me as I didn’t deserved the BC (his grades were wrongly entered by the GOD, atleast for me, due to which I got promoted) and would be reverted back. But luck favored me again and I wasn’t axed. Everything was happy again; we went to IITD for their fest where Nasaman found his dream girl. Came the second mid-term, I screwed them in the excitement of meeting her (yes she was coming for THOMSO). Everything was good ( just like any SRK movie), mostly time was spent either at Nesci imitating AKA, Dinku or Dabake or at hostel watching Nasaman’s sexual assault on Lawnday, than in the lecture halls. Finally came the end-sems and third time in a row, I was screwed again, this time GANG WARS on facebook (all the readers please join my gang) taking up the responsibility. Exams ended, I returned back home hoping to finish the unfinished business but slipped off the stairs and decided to write this.

P.S. The author will like to thank everyone for lending him their ears.
